Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES  under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove engine cover. See ENGINE COVER  under MISCELLANEOUS. Disconnect Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) actuator harness connector. Disconnect actuating links. Remove 3 bolts and IMRC actuator. See Fig 1.
  2. To install, rotate motor driver plate by pulling linkages inward until levers contact set screws. Ensure levers remain in contact with set screws. Install IMRC actuator and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . If the levers pull away from the set screws, loosen the bolts, adjust the motor position so contact is made with set screws. Install actuating links with NEW plastic retainers. Connect IMRC electrical connector. Install engine cover. See ENGINE COVER  under MISCELLANEOUS. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES  under MISCELLANEOUS.
