Valve Cover - LH: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Mercury Mariner and 2007 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- Remove the LH ignition coil-on-plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 3.0L (4V) article.
- Remove the power steering pressure (PSP) tube bracket nut and position the PSP tube and bracket aside.
- If equipped, remove the bolt and the engine lift bracket.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the accelerator cable snow shield.
- Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Detach the 4 wiring retainers from the valve cover stud bolts.
- Remove the 5 bolts, 8 stud bolts and the valve cover.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
CAUTION:
Do not disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover or damage to the ventilation tube may occur.
NOTE:
Inspect the crankcase ventilation tube and valve cover sealing area. If either a new valve cover or crankcase ventilation tube is required, both components must be installed new.
