Parking Brake Cable Tension Release

- Remove the LH cowl side trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
- With an assistant, release the parking brake cable tension by pulling straight back on the intermediate cable at the cable-to-cable union until the parking brake control sector rotates to its stop and a 4 mm (0.15 in) x 150 mm (5.9 in) retainer pin can be inserted.
- Disconnect the cable at the cable-to-cable union.
- To reload the tension on the parking brake cable, reverse the release procedure.
- Check the parking brake for correct operation by applying and releasing the pedal a minimum of 3 times.
CAUTION:
Do not allow the cable to rub against any edges or other sharp objects. Damage to the cable may result.
NOTE:
Make sure the cable-to-cable union is connected to the front and rear cable before removing the brake control retaining pin, and the cable tension is reloaded slowly.
