Extension Housing Seal (4R70W): Removal

- Drain the transmission fluid. See DRAINING & REFILLING under LUBRICATION. Mark the driveshaft flange and the rear companion flange for correct alignment during assembly. See Figure.
- Remove the 4 driveshaft bolts. Separate the driveshaft from the transmission. Use a high-lift transmission jack to support the transmission. Remove the 2 transmission mount nuts. See Fig 1.
- Remove the transmission crossmember bolts. See Fig 2. Remove the transmission crossmember.
- Lower the transmission to access the extension housing seal. Using the Slide Hammer (100-001) and Seal Remover (307-048), remove the extension housing seal. See Fig 3.
