Illuminated Entry

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Pickup, 2007 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2007 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2007 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Illuminated entry is activated when the keyless entry keypad provides an input to the vehicle security module, or when the vehicle security module receives an unlock signal from the RKE transmitter. The vehicle security module then requests the instrument cluster to activate the battery saver and interior lamp relays by providing ground to the relay coils. Illuminated entry is deactivated when the vehicle security module receives a lock signal from the RKE transmitter or receives an input from the keyless entry keypad. Illuminated entry is also deactivated when the instrument cluster receives input voltage from the ignition switch.
