Hub Bearing: Installation

- Using the Dust Shield Replacer (205-256, T87C-1175A), install the front brake rotor dust shield on the steering knuckle. See Fig 1 .
- Using the Step Plate Adapter (205-D016, D80L-630-5), press the wheel bearing into the steering knuckle. See Fig 2 .
- Using the step plate adapter, press the hub into the steering knuckle and the bearing. See Fig 3 .
- Install the axle shaft into the steering knuckle.
- Install the steering knuckle to the strut. See Figure , Figure and Figure ` . Install the lower strut to steering knuckle bolts. Install the lower strut-to-steering knuckle nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the tie rod end. See Fig 4 . Install the tie rod end nut and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install a NEW cotter key in the tie rod end.
- Install the lower ball joint through the steering knuckle. See Figure . Install the lower ball joint nut and tighten to specification. Install a NEW cotter key in the lower ball joint.
- Install the axle shaft hub washer. Install the axle shaft hub nut. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install NEW cotter key in the axle shaft.
NOTE:
Apply Threadlock 262 (E2FZ-19554-B) to the wheel bearing outer race.
NOTE:
Continue to tighten the tie rod end nut to align the slots for the NEW cotter key.
