Test K: Anti-Lock Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford RV Cutaway, 2002 Ford F450 Super Duty, 2002 Ford Econoline, 2002 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2002 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Voltage measurement in step  1 must be performed immediately after ignition switch is turned to START position, while Yellow ABS warning indicator is in prove out mode (approximately 2 seconds).
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster Black 12-pin harness connector C220b. Start engine. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster 12-pin connector C220b (component side) terminal No. 8 (Dark Green wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster Black 12-pin harness connector C220b. Disconnect 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes System (4WABS) module Black 24-pin harness connector C155a. 4WABS module is located on left front frame rail. Measure resistance of Dark Green wire between instrument cluster Black 12-pin harness connector C220b terminal No. 8 and 4WABS module Black 24-pin harness connector C155a terminal No. 1. See Figure and Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair 4WABS as necessary. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Dark Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
