Exhaust Y-Pipe - Gasoline Engines: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Pickup, 2007 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2007 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2007 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not tighten any fasteners until all components are aligned.
NOTE: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the HO2S before installation.

  1. If removed, install the HO2S.
    • Tighten to 46 Nm (34 lb-ft).
  2. NOTE: Vehicles with dual catalytic converters in the Y-pipe have catalyst monitors in the Y-pipe. Vehicles with standard Y-pipe with no catalytic converter have a single catalyst monitor in the underbody catalytic converter.
NOTE: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the catalyst monitor sensor before installation.

  3. If removed, install the catalyst monitor sensors.
    • Tighten to 46 Nm (34 lb-ft).
  4. Position the exhaust Y-pipe.
  5. Loosely install the 4 exhaust Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts
  6. NOTE: Install a new exhaust Y-pipe flange gasket.
