Valve Cover - RH: Installation

- Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.
- Position the LH valve cover and new gasket on the cylinder head and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb-in).
- Connect the wiring harness retainers to the valve cover.
- Position the evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister purge valve assembly and install the 3 nuts.
- Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb-in).
- Connect the EVAP vapor tube quick connect couplings and the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Connect the engine wiring harness retainer to the EVAP canister purge valve bracket.
- Connect the vacuum hose and engine wiring harness retainers.
- Connect the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling to the valve cover. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.
- Install the RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 5.4L AND 6.8L (3V) article.
- If equipped, install the transmission filler tube. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TORQSHIFT article.
NOTE:
If the valve cover is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
