Pinpoint Test G: Binding - Difficult Shift Lever Movement

  1. G1 CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Inspect the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir.
    • Is the fluid level within the MAX and MIN level marks? 
    1. YES  : Go to  G2.
    2. NO  : ADD brake fluid and CHECK for leaks.
  2. G2 CHECK TRANSMISSION SHIFTING - ENGINE OFF 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Depress clutch pedal.
    • Shift transmission.
    • Does transmission shift smoothly? 
    1. YES  : VERIFY customer concern. Go to Symptom Chart  if necessary.
    2. NO  : Go to  G3.
  3. G3 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION TOP COVER 
    1. YES  : Go to  G4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new top cover as necessary. REFER to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION article.
  4. G4 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL COMPONENTS 
    • Visually inspect internal transmission components for indications of excessive wear or damage.
    • Are there indications of internal damage or wear? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR or INSTALL new internal components as necessary. REFER to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION article.
    2. NO  : VERIFY customer concern.
