Removal And Installation

WARNING:
The evaporative emissions system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel are present in the area. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
There are different fuel tank filler pipes for gasoline and flex fuel. Do not interchange the fuel tank filler pipes between gasoline and flex fuel because fuel leakage will take place causing a fire hazard. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Remove the fuel filler cap.
- Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the fuel filler pipe vent tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
- Remove the 3 screws from the fuel filler pipe and remove the fuel filler pipe.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
