Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The RKE transmitters and the vehicle security module (VSM) use a rolling code to prevent the codes from being "captured" by a code grabber. The system advances the counter in the RKE transmitter and in the VSM every time an RKE transmitter button is pressed.

DTC B2425 - is a continuous DTC that sets when the VSM detects the rolling counter received from an RKE transmitter is 1,024 times greater than the rolling counter stored in the module.
