Pinpoint Test Aa: The Daytime Running Lamps Are On With The Ignition Switch Off

- AA1 CHECK THE BASE HEADLAMP CIRCUITRY
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Resistor C196
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- AA2 CHECK CIRCUIT 471 (OG/LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: DRL Resistor C196
- Disconnect: DRL Relay
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to AA3.
- AA3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1731 (RD/BK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: DRL Relay
- Disconnect: DRL Enable Relay
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to AA4.
- AA4 CHECK THE DRL ENABLE RELAY
- Carry out the DRL enable relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
- Is the DRL enable relay OK?
- YES : Go to AA5.
- NO : INSTALL a new DRL relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AA5 CHECK CIRCUIT 295 (LB/PK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: DRL Enable Relay
- Disconnect: CJB C270b
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to AA6.
- AA6 CHECK THE CJB
- Connect: CJB C270b
- Disconnect: CJB C270g
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to AA7.
- AA7 CHECK CIRCUIT 964 (DB/LG) FOR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: CJB C270g
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
