Muffler and Tailpipe: Removal

CAUTION: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on isolators as they cause deterioration of rubber.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. NOTE: Whenever the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler assembly clamp is loosened, a new exhaust intermediate pipe and clamp assembly must be installed.
  3. Loosen the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler and tailpipe assembly clamp.

  5. Remove the bolt and the front muffler exhaust hanger bracket and isolator from the frame.

  7. Remove the bolt and the rear muffler exhaust hanger bracket and isolator from the frame.

  9. Remove the bolt and the tailpipe exhaust hanger bracket and isolator from the frame.
  10. Remove the muffler and tailpipe assembly.
