Removal And Installation

  1. Remove the ignition coil. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 4.2L article.
  2. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve hose and electrical connector.
    • Detach the wiring harness retainer from the valve cover stud bolt.
  3. Remove the nuts and the engine lifting eye.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  4. Detach the spark plug wire retainers.
  5. Remove the bolt and position the radio interference capacitor aside.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  6. Remove the bolts, the stud bolts and the RH valve cover.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  7. Remove and discard the RH valve cover gasket.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new RH valve cover gasket.
