Oil Pump: Removal

CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Drain the engine oil. Install the drain plug when finished.
- Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
- Remove and discard the oil filter.
- Remove the 6 bolts and the oil pump.
- Remove and discard the oil pump seal.
- Remove and inspect the oil pump drive gear, the driven gear and the cover. Install new components if necessary.
- Inspect the face of the oil pump for flatness.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the oil pump seal. A new service seal must be installed.
