Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Binding linkage
    • Misaligned door
    • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse(s):
      • 1 (60A)
      • 23 (60A)
    • Smart junction box (SJB) fuse 16 (15A)
    • Door lock control switch
    • Door latch(es)
    • Luggage compartment lid latch
    • Luggage compartment lid release switch
    • Remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad
    • RKE transmitter
    • Circuitry
    • Driver door module (DDM) (if equipped)
    • SJB
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • Check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • Check the connections to the vehicle.
    • Check the ignition switch position.
  5. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool manual.
  6. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
  7. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX  or SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHART .
  8. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to SYMPTOM CHART .

B2574 Drivers Door LOCK Switch Short to Ground DDM GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
B2575 Drivers Door UNLOCK Switch Short to Ground DDM GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHART

DTC Description Source Action
B1138 Memory Full SJB The SJB limit of 4 integrated keys is exceeded. PROGRAM a maximum of 4 integrated keys. REFER to programming keys using diagnostic equipment in ANTI-THEFT - PATS . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
B1139 Invalid TIC SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
B1309 Power Door Lock Circuit Short to Ground SJB For vehicles without memory, GO to PINPOINT TEST A . For vehicles with memory, GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
B1341 Power Door Unlock Circuit Short to Ground SJB For vehicles without memory, GO to PINPOINT TEST A . For vehicles with memory, GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
B1342 ECU is Defective SJB CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
B1554 Decklid Release Circuit Short to Ground SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
B1623 Lamp Keypad Output Circuit Failure SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST N .
B2276 Less than 2 Transmitters Programmed SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
B2425 Remote Transmitter Out of Synchronization SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST L .
B2695 Keypad A Switch Circuit Failure SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
B2696 Keypad B Switch Circuit Failure SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
B2697 Keypad C Switch Circuit Failure SJB GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
All other DTCs - SJB REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES .
