Removal and Installation

- Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key.
- Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Remove the steering wheel nut.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the steering wheel switches electrical connector.
- Using a suitable puller, remove the steering wheel.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Align the steering wheel using the reference mark.
NOTE:
Mark the steering wheel and column shaft for reference during installation.
CAUTION:
Do not remove the steering wheel by hitting the shaft with a hammer. Damage to the column can occur.
