Fuel Rail: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2006 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistant material. The use of ordinary O-rings can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not reuse the O-ring seals.
    NOTE: Install new fuel injector O-ring seals and lubricate them with clean engine oil.
  1. Install the 6 fuel injectors and the 6 fuel injector clips into the fuel rail.
  2. Install the fuel rail and fuel injectors as an assembly.
  3. Install the 4 fuel rail bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  4. Install the wiring harness cover and the 2 pin-type retainers.
  5. Connect the 6 fuel injector electrical connectors.
  6. Connect the 2 wire harness retainers to the LH valve cover stud bolts.
  7. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  8. Connect the fuel tube quick connect coupling to the fuel rail. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  9. Install the upper intake manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE - 3.0L (4V) .
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
