Valve Cover - LH: Installation

- Clean the valve cover, cylinder head and front cover sealing surfaces with metal surface cleaner and install new valve cover and spark plug cavity gaskets.
- Apply an 8 mm (0.31 in) dot of silicone gasket sealant to the front cover-to-cylinder head joints and the camshaft seal retainer-to-cylinder head joints.
- Position the valve cover and install the bolts and stud bolts.
- Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- If equipped, install the coolant pump drive pulley cover and the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Position the wiring harness and attach the 2 pin-type retainers to the valve cover.
- Attach the 6 wiring harness retainers to the valve cover stud bolts.
- Position the oil level indicator tube and install the stud bolt.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Attach the power steering tube retainer to the valve cover stud bolt.
- Connect the LH HO2S electrical connector and pin type retainer.
- Connect the VCT solenoid electrical connector.
- Install the crankcase ventilation tube.
- Install the LH ignition coil-on-plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 3.0L (4V) .
NOTE:
The valve cover must be installed and the bolts and stud bolts tightened within 4 minutes of sealant application.
