Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the flexplate or flywheel. For additional information, refer to FLEXPLATE  or FLYWHEEL .
    3. CAUTION: If the oil pan is not removed, damage to the rear oil seal retainer joint can occur.
  3. Remove the 17 bolts and the oil pan.
  4. Remove the 6 bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal with retainer plate.
