Test D: Moon Roof Inoperative

- Remove fuse No. 21 (40-amp) from instrument panel fuse box. If fuse is okay, install fuse and go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Violet/Black wire or power distribution circuit. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect moon roof control module harness connector. Moon roof control module is located behind overhead console attached to moon roof motor assembly. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Violet/Black wire) at moon roof control module harness connector. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step 4).
- Remove fuse No. 21 (40-amp) from instrument panel fuse box. Measure voltage at input side of fuse No. 21. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Violet/Black wire. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit. See appropriate POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
- Test moon roof control switch. See MOON ROOF CONTROL SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTING. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace moon roof control switch.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at moon roof control module harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Connect moon roof control module harness connector. Disconnect moon roof switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Violet/Blue wire) at moon roof control switch harness connector. See Fig 2 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step 9).
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect moon roof control module harness connector. Measure resistance in Violet/Blue wire between terminal No. 2 at moon roof control switch harness connector and terminal No. 5 at moon roof control module harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/Blue wire) at moon roof control module harness connector. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, replace moon roof control module. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Blue wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect moon roof control module harness connector Measure resistance in wires between moon roof control module harness connector and moon roof control switch harness connector. See TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. If all resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If any resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
