Removal and Installation

CAUTION:

Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The ABS module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Disconnect the anti-lock brake system (ABS) electrical connector.

NOTE: Brake lines must be installed in the same location as removed.

Loosen the brake line-to-hydraulic control unit (HCU) fittings and position the brake lines aside.
- To install, tighten to 17 N.m (13 lb-ft).
Remove the 2 bracket-to-HCU bolts and the HCU.
- To install, tighten to 8 N.m (71 lb-in).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
