TORQUE CONVERTER OPERATION CONCERN: CYCLING/SHUDDER/CHATTER

Possible Component	Reference/Action
242 - ROUTINE
Powertrain Control System	-
TCM, vehicle wiring harnesses, fluid pressure sensors, PCA, PCB, PCC, TCC	Carry out on-board diagnostic tests. Refer to INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article for diagnosis and testing of the TCM. GO to PINPOINT TEST A and GO to PINPOINT TEST D . Repair as required. Clear DTCs, road test and rerun on-board diagnostic test.
Fluid	-
Fluid condition	Inspect fluid condition. If burnt, drain fluid. Install new fluid and fluid filter assembly. Bring vehicle to normal operating temperature.
Incorrect Pressures	-
Low pressure	Check pressure PIDs.
Torque converter clutch seal - damaged	Inspect for damage. Repair as required.
Torque Converter Assembly	-
Torque Converter internal failure leakage, clutch material damaged	Remove transmission. Inspect for damage. Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER . If the torque converter fails to pass the criteria or is damaged, install a new or remanufactured torque converter.
