Other Concerns: Transaxle Overheating

OTHER CONCERNS: TRANSAXLE OVERHEATING

Possible Component Reference/Action
257 - ROUTINE 
Powertrain Control System  -
  • TCM, vehicle wiring harnesses, Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor
  • Carry out on-board diagnostic tests. Refer to INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE article for diagnosis and testing of the TCM.
  • GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
  • TCM temperature and TFT may be above 130°C (226°F).
  • Repair as required. Clear DTCs, road test and rerun on-board diagnostic test.
Fluid  -
  • Incorrect level
  • Condition
  • Inspect fluid.
Thermal Bypass Valve  -
  • Thermal bypass valve - not functioning
  • Install a new pressure filter bypass assembly.
Cooler Tubes  -
  • Damaged, blocked, reversed, leaking
  • Inspect and repair as required.
Auxiliary Cooler  -
  • Damaged, blocked, restricted or incorrectly installed
  • Inspect and repair as required.
