Camshaft - LH: Removal

  1. Remove the coolant pump. For additional information refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove the timing drive components. For additional information, refer to TIMING DRIVE COMPONENTS .
  3. NOTE: To make sure of correct sealing, do not scratch the camshaft.
  4. Remove the 3 bolts and the camshaft oil seal retainer.
  5. Using a suitable press, remove the camshaft oil seal from the retainer.
    • Discard the camshaft oil seal.
  6. CAUTION: Cylinder head camshaft bearing caps are numbered to verify that they are assembled in their original positions. If the numbers cannot be seen, mark the camshaft bearing caps prior to removing them.

  7. Loosen the LH camshaft bolts evenly in the sequence shown to allow the camshafts to rise from the cylinder head and remove the camshaft bearing and thrust caps.
  8. Remove the camshafts from the LH cylinder head.
