Rivet Removal

    CAUTION: Do not drill outside the rivet into the frame because that will weaken the frame.
    NOTE: Clean the area around the rivets only. Remove any contamination and wax from the rivets.

  1. Drill a 1/8 inch pilot hole through the rivet.
  2. Drill a 9/32 inch hole through the shank of the rivet.

  3. Remove the rivet head using an air chisel.

  4. Drive out the rivet with a punch.

  5. If applicable, cut and grind off the welds connecting the support.
  6. Remove the support.
