Removal and Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
  1. Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
  2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  3. Remove the lower power steering pump bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  4. NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.
    NOTE: To prevent fluid leakage, be sure to insert the pressure line into the quick connect before positioning the pressure line bracket and tightening the lower power steering pump bolt.
  5. Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  6. NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads of the fitting.
  7. Disconnect the pressure line-to-steering gear fitting and remove the pressure line.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
