Removal and Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Using a suitable suction device, remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir.
Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .

NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.

NOTE: The jumper line between the hydraulic-booster and the pressure line can be serviced separately. Not necessary to remove it from the hydraulic-booster when servicing the pressure line.

Disconnect the pressure line-to-jumper line fitting.
- Discard the Teflon® seal.
  - To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
Remove the power steering pressure line bracket nut.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
Remove the lower power steering pump bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.

Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting and remove the pressure line.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
