Removal and Installation

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

All vehicles

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
Remove the lug wrench.

All vehicles

Disconnect the manifold and tube fitting at the suction accumulator.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Discard the O-ring seals.

Remove the tube clamp.

Remove the pin-type retainers and the sight shield.

Disconnect the A/C condenser core inlet line.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

Disconnect the pressure cutoff switch electrical connector.

Loosen the A/C manifold and tube bolt and remove the manifold and tube assembly.
- To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Discard the O-ring seals.

Rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles

Loosen the A/C manifold and tube bolt and remove the manifold and tube assembly.
- To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).

Remove the pressure cutoff/dual function pressure switch.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
