Removal and Installation

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose and the degas bottle hose.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan shroud.
- Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
- To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 lb-ft).
- Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
- To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 lb-ft).
- Carefully position the fan and the fan clutch into the shroud.
- Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud bolts, the shroud, fan and clutch.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION:
The large clutch assembly nut has a right-hand thread and must be rotated counterclockwise to remove it.
6.8L engines
