Parking Aid System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Parking aid system may also be referred to as Reverse Sensing System (RSS).

Parking Aid System (PAS) consists of 4 sensors located in rear bumper, a speaker, parking aid disable switch, Parking Aid Module (PAM) and reverse gear select input to PAM. PAS assists driver in detecting large, fixed objects while vehicle moves in reverse at speeds less than 4 MPH. PAS is not effective at speeds more than 4 MPH and may not detect certain angular or moving objects. PAS detects objects behind vehicle when vehicle gear selector is placed in Reverse and ignition switch is in RUN position. PAS may be disabled by pressing parking aid disable switch in center of front floor console finish panel.
