Test E: Driver's Side Door Lock Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
After making any repairs, retest system for proper operation.
- Lock and unlock all doors using driver's side key. If all doors operate properly, go to next step. If all door locks do not operate properly, repair as necessary. See SYMPTOM INDEX table.
- Disconnect driver's side door lock actuator harness connector C525. Press and hold driver's side door lock switch in LOCK position, measure voltage between ground and driver's side door lock actuator harness connector C525 Pink/Black wire terminal. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Pink/Black wire between Central Security Module (CSM) and driver's side door lock actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect driver's side door lock actuator harness connector C525. Press and hold driver's side door lock switch in UNLOCK position, measure voltage between ground and driver's side door lock actuator harness connector C525 Red/Orange wire terminal. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, replace driver's side door lock actuator. See POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect CSM harness connector C274a. CSM is located behind driver's side of instrument panel, left of steering column. Measure resistance in Red/Orange wire between CSM harness connector C274a terminal No. 1 and driver's side door lock actuator harness connect C525 Red/Orange wire terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Orange wire between CSM and driver's side door lock actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect all CSM module harness connectors. CSM module is located behind instrument panel, left of steering column. Check for backed out or corroded terminals. Repair terminals as necessary. Connect all CSM module harness connectors. Check operation of power door lock system. If problem still exists, replace CSM. See CENTRAL SECURITY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If problem does not exist, clear all DTCs and perform CSM module self-test.
