Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove and discard the 2 master cylinder nuts.NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the brake tube fittings.
- Carefully position the brake master cylinder assembly forward.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose/check valve assembly from the brake booster.
- Remove the brake pedal position (BPP) switch. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
- If equipped, remove the speed control deactivator switch. For additional information, refer to SPEED CONTROL .
- Remove the brake booster pushrod pin redundant clip.
- Remove the brake booster pushrod self-locking pin.
- Remove the brake booster pushrod outer bushing
- Slide the brake booster pushrod off of the brake pedal pin and position the pushrod aside.
- Remove the 4 nuts and the brake booster.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten 4 brake booster mounting nuts to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Install new master cylinder nuts and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
