Wiper Run/Park & Washer Relays
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove relay to be tested. Wiper run/par and washer relays are located in battery junction box in engine compartment. Measure resistance between relay terminal No. 2 and all other terminals. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less between relay terminal No. 2 and any other terminal, replace relay. If all resistance readings are more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper between positive battery terminal and relay terminal No. 3. See Figure. Measure voltage between ground and relay terminal No. 4. If battery voltage does not exist, replace relay. If battery voltage exists, connect a second wire from positive battery terminal to relay terminal No. 1. Connect a third jumper wire between relay terminal No. 2 and ground. Measure voltage between ground and relay terminal No. 5. If battery voltage does not exist, replace relay. If battery voltage exists, relay is okay.
