Description & Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
No diagnostic information on speed dependent wipers available from manufacturer.
Windshield wipers are operated by a permanent-magnet motor. When wiper control switch is in intermittent position, wipers make single sweeps, separated by adjustable-length pauses. All wiper functions on vehicles with 2-wheel drive and without power windows are controlled by a Central Timer Module (CTM). All wiper functions on all other vehicles are controlled by Generic Electronic Module (GEM). CTM/GEM is located on backside of central junction box.
Some vehicles have speed dependent wipers. When wiper control is in intermittent position, wiper speed will adjust as vehicle speed increases.
