Removal (Non-Functional)

NOTE:
Use this procedure to remove ignition lock cylinder if key is missing or cylinder is frozen.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. Remove steering wheel. Forcefully turn key cylinder, using locking type pliers, until ignition lock cylinder is in the RUN position. With a pin punch, press the release pin in and pull out on ignition cylinder.
- Remove bearing retainer, bearing and gear. Thoroughly clean all metal shavings and other foreign material from housing. Carefully inspect housing for damage. If damage is apparent, replace housing.
