Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
Throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and cannot be cleaned, or possible damage to the throttle body can occur.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING - 3.0L (4V) .
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Remove the 2 bolts and the accelerator cable snow shield.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Disconnect the speed control and accelerator cables from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and detach the wiring retainer.
- Detach the transaxle vent tube from the stud bolt.
- Disconnect the 2 throttle body coolant hoses.
- Detach the wiring retainer from the throttle body stud bolt.
- Remove the 3 bolts, the stud bolt and the throttle body.
- Discard the gasket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
NOTE: Clean and inspect all sealing surfaces. - To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new throttle body gasket.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
