Fuel Rail: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Mariner and 2006 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the fuel injectors and the retainer clips.
    CAUTION: Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistant material. Use of ordinary O-rings can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not reuse the O-ring seals.
    NOTE: Install new fuel injector O-ring seals and lubricate them with clean engine oil.
  2. If originally equipped, position the fuel rail spacers.

  3. Install the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly.
  4. Install the fuel rail bolts and attach the wiring retainers.
    • Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  5. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  6. Connect the fuel rail pressure and temperature vacuum tube and electrical connector.
  7. Connect the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling at the fuel rail. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  8. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
