Rear Drive Shaft (Two-Piece): Installation

  1. Using the index marks made upon removal, position the front drive shaft to the parking brake assembly. Install the 4 coupling shaft "U" joint retainer bolts. Tighten coupling shaft "U" joint retainer-to-parking brake assembly bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure. Release the parking brake. Support the coupling shaft, and position the center bearing support and bracket.
  2. Install the center bearing support bracket bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the rear drive shaft section. Align the index marks and install the 4 drive shaft-to-rear axle bolts and tighten to specification. If NEW bolts are not available, coat the threads of the original bolts with sealer. Remove the supports, and lower the vehicle.
