Drive Shaft Center Bearing Support (Two-Piece): Disassembly

- Remove the drive shaft from the vehicle. See REAR DRIVE SHAFT (TWO-PIECE) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Place the drive shaft assembly on a suitable workbench. DO NOT damage the tubes.
- Cut and discard the drive shaft slip yoke boot clamps. See Fig 1. Remove the drive shaft slip yoke from the coupling shaft. Remove the slip yoke boot from the coupling shaft. Inspect the boot for damage. Discard the boot as necessary.
- Inspect the lubricant on the coupling shaft splines and in the drive shaft slip yoke for contamination. If contaminated, inspect the coupling shaft splines and the drive shaft slip yoke for wear. Install NEW components as necessary.
- Remove the drive shaft center bearing support retainer and the drive shaft center bearing support bracket from the coupling shaft. See Fig 2.
- Using a suitable press, remove the center bearing support and bearing retainer from the coupling shaft. See Fig 3. Press the dust slinger off the coupling shaft. See Fig 4.
