Removal and Installation

NOTE:
The thermostat and thermostat housing are serviced as an assembly.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this article.
- Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE - HYBRID .
- Disconnect the heater hose at the thermostat housing.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the thermostat housing.
- Remove the 3 bolts, thermostat housing and gasket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Clean and inspect the gasket, install new if necessary.
