Removal and Installation

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this article.
Remove the coolant pump belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE - 3.0L (4V) .
Remove the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to THERMOSTAT HOUSING - 3.0L (4V) in this article.
Disconnect the oil cooler coolant hose from the coolant pump.
Remove the 3 coolant pump assembly-to-engine bolts.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Tighten the 3 bolts an additional 90 degrees.

Reposition the coolant pump-to-engine hose clamp.
- Remove the coolant pump.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this article.
