Wheel Knuckle: Installation

- Position the wheel knuckle and install a new wheel knuckle bolt and cam nut.
- Using a suitable tool, hold the cam nut stationary while tightening the wheel knuckle bolt.
- Tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).
- Position the ABS wheel speed sensor harness and the sensor.
- Position the lower ball joint into the wheel knuckle and install the lower ball joint nut.
- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
- Install the coil spring. For additional information, refer to SPRING .
- Install the ABS wheel speed sensor bolt and the 2 ABS wheel speed sensor harness bolts.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Install the brake shoes. For additional information, refer to DRUM BRAKE .
- Connect the brake tube to the wheel cylinder.
- Tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft).
- Install the brake tube bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
- Connect the parking brake cable to the brake backing plate and install the parking brake cable bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
- Install the parking brake shoes. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE & ACTUATION .
- Using a suitable half shaft installation tool, install the halfshaft.
- Install the new front wheel hub nut.
- Tighten to 290 Nm (214 lb-ft).
- Check and adjust the wheel alignment as necessary. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

CAUTION:
The joint area must be free of debris to make sure of correct clamping.
NOTE:
The joint surfaces and the bushing sleeve serrations must be clean before assembly. Clean the joint surfaces and the bushing sleeve serrations with a wire brush.
NOTE:
Align the notch on the cam nut with the reference marks.
Drum brake vehicles
Disc brake vehicles
AWD vehicles
CAUTION:
Do not tighten the front wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground. The nut must be tightened to specification before the vehicle is lowered onto the wheels. Wheel bearing damage will occur if the wheel bearing is loaded with the weight of the vehicle applied.
NOTE:
Apply the brake to keep the halfshaft from rotating.
