Wheel Bearing: Removal

NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

    All wheel drive (AWD) vehicles 

  1. Remove the wheel knuckle. For additional information, refer to WHEEL KNUCKLE .
  2. Front wheel drive (FWD) vehicles 

  3. Remove the brake disc or brake drum. For additional information, refer to REAR DISC BRAKE for disc brakes or DRUM BRAKE for drum brakes.
  4. Remove and discard the wheel hub nut.
  5. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor ring.
  6. All vehicles 

  7. Using the special tools, remove the wheel hub.

  8. NOTE: This step may not be necessary if the inner wheel bearing race remains in the wheel knuckle after removing the wheel hub.

  9. Using the special tool, press the inner wheel bearing race from the wheel hub.
  10. Remove the wheel bearing snap ring from the wheel knuckle.
  11. FWD vehicles 

  12. Using the special tools, remove the wheel bearing from the wheel knuckle.

  13. AWD vehicles 

  14. Using the special tools, press the wheel bearing race from the wheel knuckle.
