Hinge and striker adjustments
NOTE:
To correctly align the doors, adjust the hinges and the door latch striker. Adjusting the hinge affects the positioning of the outside surface of the door frame. Adjusting the door latch striker affects the alignment of the door relative to the weatherstrip and the door closing characteristics.
- Measure the clearance between the front and the rear door.
- Measure the clearance between the rear door and the body.
- Mark the door-to-door hinge for reference.
- Loosen the 4 door hinge-to-body bolts enough to permit movement.
- Adjust the door as necessary.
- Tighten the 4 door-to-door hinge bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Loosen the door latch striker bolts enough to permit movement.
- Adjust the door latch striker as necessary.
- Tighten the door latch striker bolts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Check the adjustment and repeat as necessary.
- Lubricate the hinges and door check arms with multi-purpose grease spray.
