Test L: Driver's Power Lumbar Inoperative

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with seatback-mounted air bags. Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving seat components. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
CAUTION: Air Bag Simulator (40-009) MUST be connected to all air bag floor harness connectors. After diagnosis/repair, air bag simulator must be removed prior to operating vehicle.
  1. Disconnect driver's side lumbar switch harness connector C361. Measure voltage between ground and lumbar switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Dark Green wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Dark Green wire between battery junction box and driver's side lumbar switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Measure resistance between ground and lumbar switch harness connector terminals No. 3 and 6 (both Black wires). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire(s) between lumbar switch and ground. Ground point is located behind left rear seat. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Connect driver's side lumbar switch harness connector C361. Disconnect driver's side lumbar motor harness connector C366. Measure voltage between Brown and Pink wire terminals at lumbar motor harness connector. Operate lumbar switch in both directions. If battery voltage exists in both directions, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist in both directions replace driver's side lumbar motor switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCHES (INCLUDING TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND LUMBAR)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect driver's side lumbar switch harness connector C361. Measure resistance between ground and driver's side lumbar switch harness connector terminal No. 7 (Pink wire). See Fig 1. Measure resistance between ground and driver's side lumbar switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Brown wire). If each resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate wire between lumbar switch and lumbar motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Measure resistance in Brown wire between lumbar motor harness connector and terminal No. 1 at driver's side lumbar switch harness connector. Measure resistance in Pink wire between lumbar motor harness connector and terminal No. 7 at driver's side lumbar switch harness connector. If each resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace driver's side lumbar motor. See POWER LUMBAR MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If each resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
