Test J: Single Temperature Controlled Seat Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Correctly

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with seatback-mounted air bags. Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving seat components. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
CAUTION: Air Bag Simulator (40-009) MUST be connected to all air bag floor harness connectors. After diagnosis/repair, air bag simulator must be removed prior to operating vehicle.
NOTE: Seat fan motor is equipped with a non-serviceable fuse. All shorts in seat fan motor circuits must be repaired before installing new seat fan motor.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 5 position. If seat fan motor operates, go to next step. If seat fan motor does not operate, go to step  3.
  2. Set temperature controlled seat switch to HEAT 5 position. If seat fan does not run and then turn off, go to next step. If seat fan runs then turns off, go to step  27.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position, and tilt seat to rear. Measure voltage between ground and 4-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 4 (Red/Black wire). See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Black wire between battery junction box and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Measure voltage at 4-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 3 (Black wire) and No. 4 (Red/Black wire). See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black wire between temperature controlled seat module and ground. Ground point is located behind left rear seat. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at 4-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminals No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire) and No. 3 (Black wire). See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Light Blue wire between central junction box and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  6. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 5 position. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 2 (White/Red wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  10.
  7. Set temperature controlled seat switch to HEAT 5 position. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 2 (White/Red wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair short to ground in Pink/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  8. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair short to voltage in White/Red wire between temperature controlled seat module and temperature controlled seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  9. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inoperative temperature controlled seat module. Remove terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire) from temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See Fig 1. Connect temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire). If battery voltage exists, repair short to ground in White/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage does not exist, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  10. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage at temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 2 (White/Red wire) and No. 8 (White/Orange wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  12.
  11. Measure voltage between temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 2 (White/Red wire) and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 16 (White/Orange wire). See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If battery voltage exists, repair open in White/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage does not exist, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  12. Measure voltage at temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 7 (Pink/White wire) and No. 8 (White/Orange wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace temperature controlled seat switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCHES (INCLUDING TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND LUMBAR)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  13. Measure voltage at 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 6 (Pink/White wire) and No. 16 (White/Orange wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Pink/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  14. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Orange wire). See Fig 2. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  17.
  15. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 7 (Light Green/Orange wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Light Green/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  16. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inoperative 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Remove terminal No. 7 (Light Green/Orange wire) from harness connector. See Fig 1. Connect temperature controlled seat module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage in Light Green/Orange wire, by backprobing (component side) at temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage exists, repair short to ground in Light Green/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage does not exist, replace temperature controlled seat module. After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Install terminal No. 7, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  17. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat switch harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 4 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Fig 2. If voltage is 5-8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5-8 volts, replace temperature controlled seat switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCHES (INCLUDING TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND LUMBAR)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  18. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 15 (Tan/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is 5-8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5-8 volts, repair open in Tan/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  19. Measure voltage in Violet wire, by backprobing seat fan motor harness connector terminal. See Fig 3. If voltage is 6 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 6 volts, go to step  21.
  20. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 10 (Violet wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 6 volts, repair open in Violet wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is 6 volts or less, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  21. Measure voltage at seat fan motor harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 1 (Violet wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). See Fig 3. If voltage is 6 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 6 volts, go to step  23.
  22. Measure voltage at 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 3 (Black wire) and No. 10 (Violet wire). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 6 volts, repair open in Black wire between module and seat fan motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is 6 volts or less, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
    NOTE: There is a 4 second time limit to measure voltage before system goes into fault mode, and shuts down.
  23. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 5 position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and seat fan motor harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 3 (Red wire). See Fig 3. If voltage is more than 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 5 volts or less, go to step  26.
  24. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Measure voltage between ground and seat fan motor harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 3 (Red wire). If voltage is greater than 7 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 7 volts, replace seat fan motor. See SEAT FAN MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  25. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Remove terminal No. 13 (Red wire) from temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See Fig 1. Connect temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat module by backprobing terminal No. 13 (Red wire). If voltage exists, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If seat fan motor does not operate after replacing temperature controlled seat module, replace seat fan motor. See SEAT FAN MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage does not exist, repair short to voltage in Red wire between temperature controlled seat module and seat fan motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If seat fan motor does not operate after repairing Red wire, replace seat fan motor. See SEAT FAN MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  26. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure terminal No. 13 (Red wire) is removed from temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Ensure temperature controlled seat module harness connector is connected. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 5 position. Measure voltage between ground and temperature controlled seat module by backprobing terminal No. 13 (Red wire). If voltage is more than 5 volts, repair open or short to ground in Red wire between temperature controlled seat module and seat fan motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is 5 volts or less, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module. Install terminal No. 13, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  27. Set temperature controlled switch to ZERO position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 1 position. Seat fan motor should turn on for one minute and turn off. If seat fan motor does not operate as specified, go to next step. If seat fan motor does operate as specified, go to step  33.
  28. Inspect seat cushion Thermo-Electric Device (TED) exhaust nozzle for air exhausting. Compare with airflow from opposite seat. If airflow is not comparable, go to next step. If airflow is comparable, go to step  31.
  29. Inspect seat for damaged or disconnected air ducts. If air ducts are not damaged or disconnected, go to next step. If air ducts are damaged or disconnected, replace or repair air ducts as necessary.
  30. Inspect seat cushion for correct installation of TED. If TED is installed correctly, remove seat cushion trim cover and inspect for worn, damaged components. If any damage is found, repair or replace as necessary. If TED is not installed correctly, reinstall seat cushion TED correctly.
  31. Inspect seat backrest TED exhaust nozzle for air exhausting. Compare with airflow from opposite seat. If airflow is not comparable, go to next step. If airflow is comparable, go to step  34.
  32. Remove back panel of seat backrest trim cover. Inspect backrest for damaged or disconnected air ducts. If air ducts are not damaged or disconnected, go to next step. If air ducts are damaged or disconnected, repair or replace air ducts as necessary.
  33. Inspect seat backrest for correct installation of TED. If TED is installed correctly, remove seat cushion trim cover and inspect for worn, damaged components. If any damage is found, repair or replace as necessary. If TED is not installed correctly, reinstall seat cushion TED correctly.
  34. Tilt seat to rear. Measure voltage at seat cushion TED harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 4 (White/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). See Fig 4. If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, go to step  40.
  35. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Remove terminals No. 1, 2, 11, and 12 from temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See Fig 1. Connect temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 1 position. Measure voltage at temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing between terminals No. 1 and 2 (component side). If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, go to step  37.
  36. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove and test temperature controlled seat switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If temperature controlled seat switch tests okay, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If temperature controlled seat switch does not test okay, replace temperature controlled seat switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCHES (INCLUDING TEMPERATURE CONTROL AND LUMBAR)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module. Install terminals No. 1, 2, 11 and 12, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  37. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module. Install terminals No. 1, 2, 11 and 12, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  38. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in White/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module. Install terminals No. 1, 2, 11 and 12, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  39. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 11 (Gray/Light Blue wire). If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Gray/Light Blue wire. If voltage does not exist, repair short to voltage in Violet/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, disconnect temperature controlled seat module. Install terminals No. 1, 2, 11 and 12, and connect temperature controlled seat module.
  40. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inoperative 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Measure resistance at 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector between terminals No. 1 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. Resistance should be 0.5-7.0 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, go to step  43.
  41. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect appropriate seat cushion TED harness connector. Measure resistance at seat cushion TED harness connector (component side) between White/Light Blue and Yellow/Light Blue wires. Resistance should be 0.5-7.0 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, repair open in White/Light Blue or Yellow/Light Blue wires between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  42. Inspect seat cushion TED pigtail wiring for damage. If seat cushion TED pigtail wiring is damaged, repair wiring as necessary. If seat cushion TED pigtail wiring is not damaged, replace seat cushion TED. See SEAT CUSHION THERMO-ELECTRIC DEVICE (TED)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  43. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  44. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  45. Measure resistance between 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminals No. 11 (Gray/Light Blue wire) and No. 12 (Violet/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be 0.5-7.0 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, go to step  48.
  46. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Disconnect seat backrest TED harness connector. See Fig 4. Measure resistance between seat backrest TED harness connector terminals No. 4 (Violet/Light Blue wire) and No. 6 (Gray/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be 0.5-7.0 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, repair open in Violet/Light Blue or Gray/Light Blue wires between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  47. Inspect seat backrest TED pigtail wiring for damage. If seat backrest TED pigtail wiring is damaged, repair wiring as necessary. If seat backrest TED pigtail wiring is not damaged, replace seat backrest TED. See SEAT BACK THERMO-ELECTRIC DEVICE (TED)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  48. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 11 (Gray/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Gray/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  49. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 12 (Violet/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  50. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 17 (Black/Light Blue wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Black/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  51. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 18 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Dark Green/Light Green wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  52. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 19 (Dark Blue/Orange wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Dark Blue/Orange wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  53. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 20 (Red/Light Blue wire). If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Red/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    NOTE: Ensure temperature is stable and equalized before measuring resistance between seat cushion and seat backrest.
  54. Measure and note resistance between 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminals No. 17 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 18 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Resistance should be 1-6 k/ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, go to step  56.
  55. Measure resistance between TED seat cushion harness connector terminals No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 3 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) component side. Resistance should be between 1-6 k/ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, repair open in Black/Light Blue or Dark Green/Light Green wires between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  56. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 17 (Black/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Black/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  57. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 18 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Light Green wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
    NOTE: Ensure temperature is stable and equalized, before measuring resistance between seat cushion and seat backrest.
  58. Measure and note resistance between 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminals No. 19 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) and No. 20 (Red/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be 1-6 k/ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is 1-6 k/ohms, go to step  60.
  59. Disconnect appropriate seat backrest Thermo-Electric Device (TED) harness connector. Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (Red/Light Blue wire) and No. 3 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) component side. Resistance should be 1-6 k/ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to step  47. If resistance is 1-6 k/ohms, repair open in Red/Light Blue or Dark Blue/Orange wires between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  60. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 19 (Dark Blue/Orange wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Orange wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  61. Measure resistance between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 20 (Red/Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Red/Light Blue wire between TED and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  62. Disconnect appropriate seat cushion TED and seat backrest TED harness connectors. Measure resistance at component side of seat cushion TED between Black/Light Blue and Dark Green/Light Green wires. Measure resistance at component side of seat backrest TED between Red/Light Blue and Dark Blue/Orange wires. Compare resistance measurements for both seat cushion and backrest thermistor. See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE  table. See Fig 4. If both thermistor readings are within specification for temperature range, go to next step. If thermistor readings are not within specification for temperature range, replace appropriate seat cushion or seat backrest TED. See SEAT CUSHION THERMO-ELECTRIC DEVICE (TED)  or SEAT BACK THERMO-ELECTRIC DEVICE (TED)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

    NOTE: There is a 4 second time limit to measure voltage before system goes into fault mode, and shuts down.
  63. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector by backprobing terminal No. 14 (White wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  67.
  64. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect appropriate 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Remove terminal No. 14 (White wire) from 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See Fig 1. Connect 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module (component side) by backprobing terminal No. 14 (White wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

  65. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Install terminal No. 14 (White wire). Disconnect appropriate seat fan motor harness connector. Measure voltage between ground and seat fan motor harness connector terminal No. 2 (White wire). See Fig 3. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in White wire between temperature controlled module and seat fan motor See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  66. Inspect seat fan motor pigtail wiring for damage. If seat fan motor pigtail wiring is damaged, repair wiring as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If seat fan motor pigtail wiring is not damaged, replace seat fan motor. See SEAT FAN MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  67. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to COOL 1 position. Measure voltage between ground and 20-pin temperature controlled seat module harness connector terminal No. 14 (White wire). See Fig 1. If voltage does not drop to 5.5 volts while seat fan motor is running, go to next step. If voltage does drop 5.5 volts while seat fan motor is running, replace temperature controlled seat module. See TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

  68. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position. Disconnect appropriate seat fan motor harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and seat fan motor harness connector terminal No. 2 (White wire). See Fig 3. If battery voltage exists, go to step  66. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White wire between seat fan motor and temperature controlled module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
