Test E: Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally/Vertically (Passenger Side Only)

Vehicle is equipped with seatback-mounted air bags. Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving seat components. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

CAUTION:
Air Bag Simulator (40-009) MUST be connected to all air bag floor harness connectors. After diagnosis/repair, air bag simulator must be removed prior to operating vehicle.
- Operate seat forward and rearward. If track will not move horizontally, go to next step. If track will move horizontally, go to step 5.
- Disconnect passenger seat motor assembly harness connector C330. Measure voltage between seat motor assembly harness connector C330 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/White wire) and terminal No. 5 (Red/White wire) while pushing FORWARD/REVERSE switch forward and backward. See Fig 1. Voltage should be more than 10 volts when FORWARD/REVERSE switch is pushed forward, zero volts when switch is in rest position and more than 10 volts with opposite polarity when switch is pushed backward. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace seat motor assembly. See SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect power seat motor connector C3015. Disconnect passenger seat control switch harness connector C330. Measure resistance in Yellow/White wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 3 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector (Yellow/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/White wire between seat control switch and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance in Red/White wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 5 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 1. Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 5 (Red/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Red/White wire between seat control switch and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Determine seat tilt failure. If only forward tilt operates, go to step 9. If only rear tilt operates, go to next step. If seat cannot be tilted either way, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect seat motor assembly harness connector C3015. Measure voltage between seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminals No. 5 (Red/Light Green wire) and terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Light Green wire) while pressing front tilt switch up and down. See Fig 1. Voltage should be more than 10 volts when front tilt switch is pressed up, zero volts when switch is in rest position and more than 10 volts with opposite polarity when rear tilt switch is pressed down. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace seat motor assembly. See SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger seat control switch harness connector C330. Measure resistance in Red/Light Green wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 6 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 6. See Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 6 (Red/Light Green wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Red/Light Green wire between seat control switch harness connector and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance in Yellow/Light Green wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 4 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 5. Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Light Green wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Light Green wire between seat control switch harness connector and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect passenger seat motor assembly harness connector C3015. Measure voltage between seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminals No. 2 (Red/Light Blue wire) and terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) while pressing rear tilt switch up and down. See Fig 1. Voltage should be more than 10 volts when rear tilt switch is pressed up, zero volts when switch is in rest position and more than 10 volts with opposite polarity when front tilt switch is pressed down. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace seat motor assembly. See SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect passenger seat control switch harness connector C330. Measure resistance in Red/Light Blue wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 2 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 2. See Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 2 (Red/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Red/Light Blue wire between seat control switch and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance in Yellow/Light Blue wire between seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 8 and seat motor assembly harness connector C3015 terminal No. 3 . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and seat control switch harness connector C330 terminal No. 8 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Light Blue wire between seat control switch and seat motor assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
