Removal & Installation: QX4: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2000 Infiniti QX4, 2000 Infiniti Q45, 2000 Infiniti I30, 2000 Infiniti G20, and 1999 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before installing torque converter, measure drive plate runout with a dial indicator. Runout should not exceed .006" (.15 mm). If runout exceeds limit, replace drive plate. Install torque converter into transmission, aligning index marks made during removal.
  2. Ensure torque converter is seated by measuring distance from drive plate mounting pad to engine mating surface of transmission. Distance should be 1.02" (26 mm). If distance is not as specified, torque converter is not seated.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Apply sealant to torque converter bolts before installing bolts. Rotate crankshaft several times to ensure torque converter moves freely without binding. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
